Employment history

Date Employer Position
1999 - present Just Blue Software Development Head

Development of web and desktop based biodiversity and taxonomic information systems and databases.

These service oriented biodiversity and taxonomic information systems use the full .Net stack, especially ADO.Net, Entity Framework, WCF, WCF Data Services, WCF RIA Services, Silverlight, ASP.Net MVC and WPF.

Some recent projects:

Addo Elephant Manager: An application that can be used to capture the knowledge on the elephants at the Addo Elephant National Park and can identify the elephants based on a set of observed character states.

Coral Reef Research Foundation (CRRF) Collection Manager: Provided the CRRF with a database to manage all their worldwide collections.

Molenaars River Invertebrates: Provide an online data management system to record information on all the samples collected, record species composition and diversity, and the export of data in the preferred analytical formats.

Quadrat Analyser: A useful tool to obtain biodiversity data from photos of quadrats.

TAMIRA: The Tunicate and Marine Invertebrate Research Assistant. Designed to centralize all the information taxonomists need for tunicate taxonomy and identification. It can, however, be used for any marine invertebrate taxonomy.

1992 - 2011 Orion Software Chief Software Architect

Architect of distributed software systems based on the Microsoft .Net Framework. Wide experience in the software development life cycle (SDLC). Extensive knowledge, experience and expertise with the .Net stack; from the data layer using SQL Server, SQL Compact and SQL Azure, ADO.Net, Entity Framework (EF) and Language Integrated Query (Linq), to the Services layer using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Workflow Foundation (WF), WCF Data Services and WCF RIA Services, to the Presentation layer using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Silverlight, ASP.Net web forms and ASP.Net MVC.

Some recent projects:

New Dimension Accounting Series: Delphi, COM, ActiveX, ADO, SQL

ISP Management System: CRM, integration with servers (DNS, IIS, IAS, AD, WMI, ADSI) Delphi, C# Web services (ASMX, WCF, WF, WCF Data Services, WCF RIA Services), SQL, ADO.Net, Entity Framework, Linq

Dakota mail server: Delphi, SQL

Project Manager: Delphi, SQL

Office Management System: C#, ASP.Net

Instant Dynamic DNS: Delphi

Components, forms, database, reporting: Delphi, C#
