These service-oriented systems use the full .Net stack, especially ADO.Net, Entity Framework, LINQ, WCF, WCF Data Services, WCF RIA Services, Silverlight, ASP.Net MVC ASP.Net WebForms and WPF.

  Bio-DS is a suite of applications for biologists. Applications are securely accessed via the internet and data is securely hosted in the cloud.

  • Dominance analysis

    Analyse dominance encounter data, specifically to find a linear dominance hierarchy.

  • Organism Classification

    Classify species or specimens for use in the Organism Visual Identification and Organism Browser applications. Organisms are placed in a taxonomic hierarchy. Identification characters and character states are assigned to each level in the hierarchy. This results in a multi-access identification key. Images can be assigned to characters and character states to aid identification. Tags can be assigned at any level of the hierarchy. These tags provide and alternate way to search for organisms.

  • Organism Visual Identification

    Identify species or specimens setup in Organism Classification by answering questions based on the characters and character states specified. As questions are answered the list of applicable organisms gets less, until an organism is identified.

    Tags search can also be used to aid identification.

  • Organism Visual Browser

    Visually browse species or specimens setup in Organism Classification and view relevant information about the organism.
